Task Forces
The Canberra Business Council (CBC) facilitates seven Task Forces which focus on issues of importance to business and the economy. The Task Forces are the engine room of policy development for Canberra Business Council. They bring expertise drawn from CBC members and the broader community and are frequently attended by Ministers and other key decision-makers. These groups play a critical role in the development of CBC policies which, in turn, become the driving force behind the initiatives the Business Council pursues to drive the diversification, strengthening and expansion of the Capital Region's economy.
All Council members are encouraged and welcome to participate in the Council's Task Forces.
ECONOMIC GROWTH, STRATEGIC & COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE TASK FORCE
Objective:
- To provide input to ACT and Federal Governments on matters of public expenditure that will or could affect the sustainability, diversification and growth of the private sector in the Australian Capital Region.

BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT TASK FORCE
Objectives:
- To ensure that governments and the community fully appreciate and welcome the central role that business plays in the health and well-being of the whole community;
- To promote a business environment that supports long-term viability for current businesses but also attracts new businesses and investment to the Capital Region.

INNOVATION, EDUCATION, SKILLS & TECHNOLOGY TASKFORCE
Objectives:
- To position the ACT as the Innovation Capital by identifying and enhancing opportunities to build on the 'capital' (asset) of our existing innovation and facilitate further innovation;
- To achieve this through the development of partnerships between all segments of the private sector and Government;
- To focus on strategies which maximise the knowledge of and benefits to be derived from the substancial resources, intelligence, research and innovation that exist in our businesses, education, government and research institutions.

INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS TASKFORCE
Objectives:
- To promote opportunities for the region's exporters and importers;
- To facilitate and guide the ACT Exporters' Network and it's activities;
- To consult with and provide advice to the ACT and Federal Governments in relation to export development and related matters.

PLANNING, INFRASTRUCTURE & ENVIRONMENT TASK FORCE
Objectives:
- To consider matters of physical planning and planning policy which are of concern to the broad business community and impact on the objective of ensuring a sustainable private-sector business climate in the Australian Capital Region;
- To focus on infrastructure in the ACT and across the Capital Region, including but not limited to sustainable transport, water security, the CBD, a new Convention Centre and vehicle fuel efficiency.

Objective:
- To ensure the tourism, arts and sports potential of the Australian Capital Region is maximised for the benefit of business and all residents.
